1. INTRODUCTION TO CONSTRUCTION

1.1 Construction Professionals


These Professionals are:

Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Land Surveyors, Construction & Project Manager, Engineers (Civil, Structural, Electrical, etc.), a Contractor (who is not necessarily a professional), etcetera.

1.2 Elements of a Building


Elements of a building consist of: foundations, walls, floors, finishes (for walls and flooring), doors, windows, ceilings, roofs, etc.



1.3 Colour Codes, Symbols and Fittings


In any industry there are standards and these are to be adhered to by every professional to ensure uniformity, comprehension and sustainability (amongst others) in the industry. With that being said, in the Construction Industry there are standard colour codes, symbols and fittings used in order to achieve the aims aforementioned and for easy communication between professionals in the industry.
